Featured Book - Strictly Murder

The estate agent's details listed two reception rooms, kitchen and bath. What they failed to mention was the dead celebrity in the master bedroom. Personal assistant Verity Long's house hunt is about to turn into a hunt for a killer. It will take some fancy footwork to navigate the bitchy world of dance shows, television studios, and dangerously gorgeous male co-stars. When Verity looks like the killer's next tango partner, she discovers that this dance is ... Strictly Murder.

Taking its title, in part, from the popular BBC programme Strictly Come Dancing, in which amateurs are paired with professional dancers in a weekly competition, Strictly Murder is a light hearted whodunit featuring a new female sleuth. Verity is young and spunky and takes no prisoners as she goes on her self-opinionated way attempting to discover who killed Jaynee Johnson, the female presenter of the television dance series, Star Steps, and left the body in an unoccupied Victorian villa.

Strictly Murder was voted second in the humour category of The Best Indie Books of 2012. Mingling a traditional whodunit with elements of romance and humour, Strictly Murder is where Agatha Christie meets chick lit. It’s also a ‘clean’ book, with no overt sex, no gore or violence and no foul language.

Here’s what some Amazon reviewers had to say.

Elaine G — A cracking light hearted read which is very twisty turny with a nice, likeable main character, Verity Long. Verity is PA and researcher for crime writer Kathleen Davenport, so when she stumbles upon the body of a missing celebrity whilst viewing a house to rent, she just cannot help herself - she has to investigate. And what an amateur sleuth she is - young, sassy, cute, food lover and wine expert - a great character indeed!

Vachulme — I absolutely loved this book, I couldn't put it down. I, like others had worked out 'whodunnit' early on but it really doesn't matter. Verity is hilarious, her sense of humour had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion.
