Book Impressions - 100 Percent Drabbles by Jennifer Hanning

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I'm a huge fan of drabbles. For those of you that haven't encountered drabbles before, a drabble is a story that is exactly 100 words long, not including the title. What we have here is an excellent collection of drabbles. I consumed them all in one go, but you can enjoy them one at a time as they're perfect for dipping in and out of.

One common strength of a good drabble is the twist in the tale, like a good joke it relies on surprise and timing and the author wields that technique with some skill. The drabbles cover a variety of themes, some dark, some funny and all of them entertaining. She also excels in taking seemingly mundane circumstances and with the little twists turning them into something different.

If you're new to drabbles then this is an excellent introduction, if you're not then this is a fine collection to expand your drabble reading. Either way it's a damn fine read!
